anxiety when your asleep

I get anxiety at night when I am asleep, I have a feeling that I am falling  because I am so tired.  I feel like a weight was droppoed on me and I get up in the middle of the night gasping for air with that tingly feeling in my chest and the anxiousness and my heart racing. Every time it happens I get up put some clothes on and go outside, I am afraid that one day I will start running up and down the street and give myself a heart attack from the panic that I get after the anxiety. Is anyone out their who can sit down and give yourself an anxiety attack from thinking about a health problem? For example, I was feeling around my neck one day because when I had surgery 3 years ago an IV needle was put in my neck behind my ear. Well I panicked because I felt a bump. I put it in my head that I had a clot their and when I pressed on it I thought it was going to unlodge and give me a heart attack. I started to panic I felt the flush go to my head I started to shake and my heart started to race. Am I crazy to think that I could be causing the anxiety myself by thinking too much?

You are having panic/anxiety attacks. I started getting anxiety attacks when I was 17 and for the first year it started as an extreme tightness around the circumference of my chest (like there was a big elastic band tied around all of my chest). you know what the funny thing is? I had no idea why I was getting them, my life was relatively happy and care free at that point. after a year, I went to a doctor who dismissed it as improper form while working out. She happened to be terribly wrong. as I still have attacks.
You need to see a specialist. Going through years with this disorder, I can tell that you actually don't have anything physically wrong with you. Your body is fine. Take a deep breath of relief. Go see a doctor however, because your racing thoughts and fear are trying to tell you something. Don't be scared, you'll be absolutely fine.
these forums have been helping me.
