OK, first of all, any doctor who tells you that anxiety is "all in your head" is an undereducated, insensitive moron and I strongly advise you to find yourself another doctor immediately.
I also question whoever prescribed the propranol for you. While this medication can have a small affinity for anxiety, here is a description of propranolol from the Physcians Desk Reference...............
Uses: Chronic stable angina pectoris, hypertension, supraventricular dysrhythmias, migraine prophylaxis, pheochromocytoma and cyanotic spells related to hyoertrophic subaortic stenosis.

These are conditions of the heart and vascular system.

The "unlabeled" uses for this medication, which means this drug has proven to sometimes be effective for other than the intended conditions include: Parkinson's tremor, prevention of variceal bleeding caused by portal hypertension, akathisia induced by antipsychotics, acute MI (hear attack), portal hypertension, sclerodermal renal crisis, anxiety, and infantile capillary hemangioma.

Notice how far down the "unlabeled" list this medication is for anxiety. This is a fairly potent heart medication and as I said, I question why it was prescribed to you for simple anxiety without cardiac involvement.

I am not a doctor, so my OPINION that this drug may be wrong for you is just that........My opinion. But I think it's one that needs to be discussed with the prescriber.

When you see your psychologist again, please talk with him/her about other antianxiety meds you could try. The list of side effects for propranolol is rather disturbing.
You could ask about a SHORT course of Xanax or Ativan or for longer term use, Klonopin. These meds carry their own set of side effects and can be addictive, but they are strictly for the use of controling anxiety and panic, not a host of cardiac issues.
Peace

Oh hon, I feel for you.  We ALL do.  We've all been there.  I've had panic attacks so bad I was convinced I would die or go nuts.  They always pass.  That isn't to say you will feel perfect afterwards, because they're very traumatic, but I promise you, they are NOT harmful to your physical well being.  You won't die from a panic attack no matter how terrifying they are.

You've received great advice on your threads....PLEASE don't put off getting help any longer.  You are only suffering needlessly.  There IS help out there.  There isn't a magical overnight cure, but with the help and meds and/or therapy...you WILL get past this.

There are SO many of us just like you who have been where you are and gotten better.

Please hang in there....we're here for you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a fairly major anxiety/panic attack. Do you have anything you can take for it? Have you been diagnosed with an anxiety or panic disorder?
Trust me, we all know how scary they are, but I promise you that you're not going to die or go crazy. Those are two of most common symptoms of anxiety and panic.
I strongly urge you to see your doctor. If you do have anxiety, there are medications and therapy that will help you get to the root cause and you CAN recover from this.
For right now, distraction is often the best way to deal with an attack. Go for a walk. Read a book, watch a movie, call a friend, write in a journal, take a hot bath, do some yoga, take good deep breaths............read posts on this forum and you'll see that you're not alone and your symptoms are just that, symptoms. They can't hurt you. It WILL pass.
Can you talk with your parents? I'm sure if they knew what you were going through, they would do whatever they could to help you.
These attacks ARE very scay, sweetie, ride it out and please see your doctor. You absolutely do not have to suffer with these.
We are always here if you need to talk, OK?
You're going to be fine.
(((HUG)))
Peace
