dealing with anxiety for 40years

Why do I have anxiety attacks when I go to any store or a place with a large crowd?  I just want to stay home. I gdt anxious when I have to drive on the freeway. Or when my husband's family is around I really get anxious. This can't be normal. I am taking medications for the anxiety disorder.  Is there anyone else that goes through this and what do you do?

I just checked out the site....it is www.anxietycentre.com .......be careful on the spelling of "centre"......if you type "center" you get a political site!

You have described me to a T!  I am on meds and have been going through this for about 15 years.  I would choose to stay home too, but I just fight through it and do what I need to do anyway.  I would love to feel normal again also....

Sharj- I am going to try that site also...thanks for the info.

Hi yes the same thing happena to me I hate going into shops my head goes really queer, I do make myself go but I feel really unwell, I also hate crowds, and I also suffer social phobia when my head is bad, I like you dont think its normal but what is normal? im afraid we suffer this dreadful anxiety which non of us want, the only thing I can suggest is get angry with your fears at the shops tell yourself you will be fine and dont let this bully win cos thats what it is a big bully, it dosent always work as my bully wins most times, by the way I mean bully being the anxiety.
take care
janis.
