I agree with Serge144.  I also had many side effects & awful withdraw symptoms.  If I forgot a dose or was late taking a dose while I was on it, I was ill, felt very sick within maybe 3-4 hours of the missed dose.  Google Effexor side effects & symptoms.  Look for forums like this, not like Wikipedia that just give you facts.  Read info that real people who have used it/been on it.  See what they have to say.
And Serge, My doctor didn't inform me either, but come to find out he didn't know!  Doctors were not informed by the maker of these awful side effects & withdraw symptoms.  I think this has since been changed.  People sent petitions to the maker, which is Wyeth Ayerst.  My doctor really tried to help me & reached out to his own colleagues for assistance.

I took Effexor Xr 37.5 mg for a month and decided to get off the medication. I will never again take this medication.  The "brain zaps" are horrible and the feelings are just as bad. I thought since I wasn't on this drug long enough that I wouldn't have side-effects, wrong! I'm also not happy with the way this drug is being marketed and the lack of mentioning of these "zaps". I'm going to have to switch medical providers because it seems my doctor also failed to inform me of these effects once I decided to get off the medication.  I specifically asked this question and I was lied to. Although, it helps with depression, coming off the medication is another story, seriously speak with your provider and ask detail questions to see if the benefits out weigh the side-effects. On my end I will never touch one of these pills again!

Definitely Effexor Xr.  Once a day dosing.  No ups and downs.
