hypnosis

Has anyone ever had hypnosis done, and if so does it help and what are the effects.  My doctor wants to try some breathing techniques and said if I'd like she can also do hypnosis, She knows I have been under a lot of stress. I'm a little skeptical, told her I'd rather try the breathing techniques before I even think about going under hypnosis.

I have severe anxiety and panic attacks and b4 I resorted to the meds I tried the breathing techniques and hypnosis. I found that when I'm in the middle of a panic attack like in a store or something the breathing exercises actually made me even more light headed, although once I got out of the situation and did the breathing exercises it helped me calm down a bit. Hynosis was wonderful for just letting go of all the tension at the end of the day and helped me to sleep but did absolutely nothing for my panic attacks. Then again everyone is different and it very well could work for you. I would definately give it a whirl and see how you react to it and dont be intimidated by hypnonsis its not nearly as intense as you might assume, just deep deep relaxation.

Read up on hypnosis before you have it done, and you will get much more benefit. Otherwise you might be afraid to let go. The hypnosis they will do for you is just a form of positive thinking so there are zero side effects. You won't do any of the goofy things that you see stage hypnosis volunteers do because that is a different form of it.
In fact, they will show you haw to self hypnotize for use in future when you think there might be a panic arise.
