Joyeeta there are parenting classes you can take, but anger management is also important. Your child is getting older and will soon begin to respond to you in similar ways to how you are teaching them. If you learn new skills, not only will your child be happier and do better at school and in life, but they will be happier and calmer at home, and easier for you t o manage.
The thing about losing it with your kids is that it doesn't really work. Sure, they are scared of you and might stop misbehaving in the minute, but they don't learn WHY not to do things, or how to respect people or property. Over time, their own anger builds up, and even though they don't mean to, they will look for ways to get revenge.
You can go to your community mental health agency and get help with anger management, parenting skills, and any other connected issues, like substance use, anxiety or depression.
