I've suffered with anxiety and depression as well, and still get nervous about certain social environments. But personally I enjoy my time alone and have stopped feeling as if that's a flaw. If you'd prefer to be more social but still fight those fearful feelings, start small and work your way up. No one says you have to go out to the pub till dawn but maybe ask a friend out for coffee or to go see a movie. Something you're comfortable doing. Once you start you'll see it gets easier and easier. :-)
All the best.
Its hard for me two. The people I feel most comfortable around it helps when I spend time with them. Go outside as often as you can. That always helps me, just sit in the sun for a little while. Don't let your mind take control, when my mind wont stop I will listen to my mp3 player, listen to your favorite music. Break a sweat if you can, everyday. These different things are what helped me break out of that dark hole I was in. Good Luck

Have you seen a psychiatrist regarding your depression and anxiety? Are you in therapy? These both helped me to get out and live a normal life. Depression robs us of not only our happiness but our desire to get out and be among friends, preferring to be alone. You don't have to live like this, there is so much help for you. I hope knowing we understand and care helps, and that you are not alone. See a psychiatrist so the two of you can decide what course of treatment is best for you. Just talking to us is a big step forward! Anxiety and depression are just like any other medical condition that requires medication to control the symptoms, we can't always do it alone. I hope this helps, and wish you all the best.
