oh my gosh, i had really bad anxiety where i didnt eat, lost 21 pds in 9 weeks, felt weak/tired/ tinglingand hot ears/face, felt out of body at times . it went away have not had any problems in 2 months i though i had it because my mom went through cancer surgery and than i with 9 weeks of pac of the heart. but it all went away. now for no reason its back started two days ago when i took levaquin 750mg have not took it for two days and only took one pill. now i feel the hot/tingling face/ears having hot flashes and just not my self. has this happen to anyone .ive never had anxiety just to have it am not worried about anything , my health is good as with my mom. so any ideals why. i dont want to take anything for it right now trying fight it off again. thanks for yas help.

   Thanks for you advice/comment.  I'm just going to try one more dosage and see what happens.  If I experience anxiety than I'll get off it.  Funny how antibiotics do this and why so many doctors are not aware of it!  Hope you are feeling better!  ~Joanna.

Levaquin & cipro are in the same family. I cannot handle either it makes me far too anxious. Recently I had an ear infection and even being on Zpack made me very antsy. I took it 4 of the 6 days bc I just couldnt stand feelign so uncomfy and my sinus infection felt better. If the symptoms return just know its the meds causing the anxiety and it will pass once you stop them.

So...if anxiety is  happening to so many people and with so many different antibiotics, is it wise to just not take anti-biotics anymore?  I mean, I'm afraid to try anything anyloger!  I had reaction to Amoxocillin and just took my first dosage of Batrim.  However after reading all these responses, I don't think I will take anymore.  What do you guys think?  Should we even take anymore Anti-biotics?!!

I have recently discontinued the levaquin. My UTI symptoms are gone and I am hesitant to ever take this again. I did a little research and you are right, it does cause anxiety. I appreciate you writing me back and thanks for the advice. It has been a learning experience. I just moved to San Antonio and I don't have a good doctor yet. I am trying to find one now. Thanks, C

if i was you i would not take again. how many have you took? how one have you been on it . did you have a attack after attack. thats what i did it was bad, now am still having the anxiety a week after taking one pill of 750mg. i would say get off of it if you google it you can see how bad that med is, i have took it for years for uti with no problems but i took the 500, but this time it wiped me out and can leave you with long term problems dont take my word google it , it scared me enough to threw mine away never to take again . i have anxiety some but never like this . i wish you luck. ps i took one pill of 750 they retested me and my uti was gone thats how stronge it is .

Initially everthing was o.k. untill yesterday, I was driving up to the lake around 9:00 p.m. when I suddenly started having an anxiety attack without warning. We were in the middle of no were, which didn't help, when I finally had to turn around and stop at a gas station to get some water and relax. As soon as we got back on the road it hit again. I did not take my dose today but am thinking about cutting the 750 MG in half and take it again tomorrow. Does anyone have any insight they could share?

wow thanks for the insite, i took a cipro 500 around 1:30 feel ok was having the anxiety before i took it so i guess i will have to see if it gets worse or better. just cant belive one pill would caused all of this. i was doing so good.now am scared the cipro may add to it they want me to take 500mg twice a day am going to only take it once a day . going dr in morning hope he can help me out here . i hate the burn/tingle thing. tostressed you took 4 pills i only took one so maybe thats why yours lasted but was so hoping this was from pill and not anxiety coming back. guess time will tell. thanks so much for talking to me ,it always makes me feel better . have a great night .barbara

Your doctor is wrong.  No offense, mine was too.  Contact any reputable pharmacist and they will tell you that anxiety is the top side effect in Levaquin.  I got my information about it from the Mayo Clinic when I was there because I was taking it for an ear infection.  I don't still have it but if I can remember correctly, anxiety and panic were number 1 on his list for levaquin.  Although Cipro is in the same class, anxiety is not number one for that drug.  I won't take any of the quinlones either out of shear paranoia now but I have taken Cipro in the past for a kidney infection and I was fine.  

There is more than one post on this forum about Levaquin.  I'm sure if you searched you would be amazed at the people who have had this happen.  Although, to be fair, those that have no problem with it aren't on the "net" looking for answers so it's hard to tell which is in the majority.

Good luck and feel better soon.  Also, my pharmacist is great, he's at Walgreens and is amazingly helpful.  But the pharmacist at the Mayo Clinic was out of this world.  I have never gotten so much information and help from anyone, doctor or pharmacist.  Maybe they answer calls?  I don't know but he was very helpful.

My anxiety lasted a while, I also had other bad side effects from it, joint pain and burning in hands and feet. I never ached before in my life, and now to this day I still ache. I took cipro too, and had a bad reaction to that. I will take now antibiotic in the quinolone family. (levaquin, cipro, avelox,and another that starts with a T) That is exactly what happen to me around 4 hours later bad anxiety. I never thought it was the antibiotic though. I only take amoxicillin when I need a antibiotic. I don't take them very much. Depending on your doctor, some believe that there are bad side affects from the drug others don't believe it. I went to a web site after all this happen and read a lot of stories from other victims. Their side effects were just like mine. Google levaquin victim stories. I am not trying to scare you that is the last thing I want. I just don't want you to keep taking antibiotics that are making you feel this way.

thanks for the help, i took only one pill dr says it would not do this, yesterday was better today little worse. i just dont keep anxiety like this its been gone for 4 weeks i have had to take nothing and been enjoying life now boom its back. my dr changed the pill to cipro but i think its in the same family, i took one 2 hours ago its 500 mg. but cant tell because already having the burn/tingle in ears /head.  going to dr tomorrow at 11;15  go to ask for mri of head, i know its fine because for 4 weeks i have been good with no tingling/burning of head and ears . but always good to be safe. tstressed how long did the anxirty last after you took 4 pills, i think it should be gone for me i took one 750 two days ago and i have took 500mg of it with no problem so . not sure its the pill. but i was feeling good until that night 4 hours after i took it . what do ya think.

Stay away from levaquin, I have problems to this day because of it. I took it for a sinus infection in january and my anxiety came out of nowhere. I had my anxiety under control, and when I took that I had bad reaction.  I took 4 of the pills, never again. It is known for causing anxiety.

You sound like you are handling this pretty well. Anxiety comes and goes all the time.  My anxiety is pretty bad right now.  i think the med. is giving you side affects.........hope things go well with you......Miss you
