After drinking a moderately potent kava causes effects within 20–30 minutes that last for about two and a half hours.
Kava's very good for relaxation, but not necessarily the best sleep aid. Melatonin is a better place to start, and a homeopathic remedy called Calm's Forte might also help. Valerian, hops, and passionflower would be better herbs for sleep than kava. By the way, the problems with kava were all with the standardized version, never with the traditional way of taking it, and only affected five people. If it were an approved drug, five people would never even have brought a mention. But if I had a liver problem, I'd be careful to avoid the standardized version.
not yet, Im doing all that I can to get alternatives to help take the edge off at night when Im hit with anxiety attacks
30 minutes....works great..dont let "warnings" of Kava scare you..anything in large doses can damage.
Have you tried melatonin?
