klonipin, zoloft, trazodone

My Psychiatrist has started me on 1 mg. klonipin, twice a day...100 mg. Zoloft once per day...100 mg. trazodone at night to sleep. I'm scared of serotonin syndrome! Dr. is tapering me off the klonipin at my request. Am having nausea and stomach problems. Any advice? Thanks!

Trazodone + Zoloft would cause more problem with serotonin than Klonopin + Zoloft.  Usually there is not a problem with this syndrome, but you doctor should keep a close watch.  Let me know if the Trazodone helps you with sleep.  I tried it years ago when I had acute anxiety and it didn't help.  I have heard it puts some people right to sleep.  .5 mgs of Klonopin twice a day with my Celexa is enough to keep my sleep pattern healthy.

Hi,

I have never heard of serotonin syndrome except in reference to the over use of extacsy drugs. I have been taking many psych drugs over the years including anti-psychotics, anti depressants, mood stabilizers, and even klonipin and trazodone. The only problems I have had is sometimes, on certain anti depressants, I throw up a lot. But then I get off that particular drug and am ok.

It sounds like you have a lot of anxiety over this issue. It's good that your doc is listening to you and taking you off the meds you request. Have you talked with your doc in depth over your concerns?
