klonopin&depression-ryan or anyone?

hello all,
today is day 11 of being on .5 mg of klonopin am/pm. i've been sleeping a little better then i was at first but im started to think im depressed? i've never been depressed before and dont know what the symptons are..but this past week i've been having mood swings and have been very "snappy". i dont feel like talking to any of my friends and im not motivated to do anything at all. im not sure if im like this because i have to adjust to the dosage increase (even though its been 11 days already), or if the klonopin is making me depressed? i wasnt like this until i increased my dosage. im also having surgery in a week so that could be messing with my mind too? Ryan posted that klonopin can cause depression, if thats in my case, when would i start to notice the depression? is 11 days too early to determine anything? i wonder if i should try to go back down to my normal dosage of .25 mg am/pm but then im going to start having really bad anxiety/panic attacks again.
please let me know what i should do! any suggetions, thoughts, anything!
thanks.

Namaste,

As you know, Klonopin (clonazepam) is in a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. Klonopin (clonazepam) affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced and cause seizures or symptoms of panic disorder.

Take your Klonopin (clonazepam) exactly as directed by your doctor.  Do not decrease the dosage without consulting with him/her first.

Depression is listed as a minor side effect of Klonopin and seldom occurs, however, that doesn't mean that you couldn't be somewhat depressed because of the medication. Your side effects, however(if any) would normally exhibit themselves rather quickly, although that is not the case.

I would continue to take your medication as prescribed and talk with your healthcare provider.  That would also be a good time to bring up the issue of an anti-depressant.  Some individuals do very well on a combination of an anti-anxiety medication and an anti-depressant, whereas others don't. That's usually determined by trial and erro.

Not knowing your history it's difficult to make any recommendations that will give you the answers you need or just want to hear. Your provider is your best resource.

Ive been on Klonpoin for over 5 years now and one thing you shouldnt do with out checking with your Dr. is to decrease your dose.
Perhaps the tiresness that KPN causes is making you cranky, that and stressing on your surgery........good luck!
