lexapro question for those who've used it

Hi All,

I've been taking 10 mg of Lexapro for 2 weeks now (along with 1mg of extended release Xanax).

I can't really "notice" if the lexapro is working b/c the xanax began working immediately and definitely has calmed me down.  It also makes me sleepy.

Would those of you who've taken Lexapro please share your experiences with the drug with me?  Did it take a while for it to begin working?  Were you taking it for anxiety and depression or just anxiety (for me it's both).

Anything you can share about Lexapro is appreciated.

I took Lexapro for several years with excellent results for depression and anxiety.  It takes 4-6 weeks for medications like Lexapro to reach a therapeutic level in your system. Xanax is a fast acting anxiety medication which you take on an as needed basis.  They work in different ways.  Be patient, you will know when it kicks in.  Take care.

Did you take the Lexapro at night or in the morning? My doc wants me to take it in addition to the Wellbutrin but I'm scared of the SSRI's side effects, diarrhea in particular.

When I took the Lexapro (5mg) in the morning, it made me extremely sleepy and drowsy, I couldn't get anything done at work.

Did it really take 4-6 weeks to take effect?? I've been on the Wellbutrin for a week now and even though things are slightly better, I still feel like ending it all sometimes.

Hi,I have also been on lexapro for 5wks and i'm just now noticeing relief.Some days are harder than others but,it's so much better than haveing a full blown attack.I also have been takeing 1mg of adavan which was really handy within the first three weeks.My anxiety was really bad at first.But,Yes their is light at the end of this dark tunnel.Give it more time and you will to see.Good Luck.Keep us posted.
