The symptoms certainly sound like anxiety ... such an awful 24/7 feeling when it strikes ... like a day/night-long panic attack with no end in sight!

Like someone else said, it feels like someone has taken over your body and you are just an observer of all that is happening, getting more and more tense and obsessive with racing thoughts as the anxiety attacks!

When I was at my wit's end and thinking I'd die that way due to insanity, my doctor gave doses of klonopin to begin to slow the anxiety, and it worked overnight!  Then she added in an antidepressant to calm my system futher!  I could sleep again!  And read more than half a column of print!  And think about something else besides my sickness for awhile!  It was so good to "break the cycle," as someone mentioned above!

It is no miracle cure; there is no miracle cure ... but the amt of improvement you can make will be amazing if it is just anxiety!

Even if you had an illness such as Lyme or whatever, you could obsess over symtpoms and have anxiety, so it might not hurt to take a try at some anxiety treatment.  If it doesn't work, you will have only lost the cost of the doctor/pills, but can relieve your mind and go on toward further tests!

BY THE WAY, I am surprised somebody mentioned the BUZZING ... it was my head, finger, toe, and tongue that got that buzz feeling, and I thought I was losing it ... I was hesitant to mention to anyone else:  how do you say to someone, "My third toe is buzzing on my right foot, and so is my left pinky finger, and my tongue ... and then, the buzz shoots thru my brain too"???

Well, here on this forum, you can say it and someone will say, "ME, TOO!"  That is the blessing of talking with someone else who has "been there, done that," and is a "work in progress," improving day by day.  Hope you will soon be on the road to feeling better, too!  There is help out there!   Good luck to you!

Thanks for your reply.  I have been checked for deficiencies in B vitamins, calcium, vitamin D, magnesium, iron,etc...  I can't seem to find anything to blame this on but MS and I'm having a hard time believing that is not my problem (before I knew how much it would scare me, I went to an MS website and read how it can not show up in an MRI for years in some people).  It doesn't help that the nuero. I'm seeing said at one point this summer that it could be MS in its early stages.

I have never been dx with anxiety, so how do you really know if that is the cause?  I would love to believe it is and this will get better.  My Dr. gave me Lexapro to try, but after 2 days of taking a quarter of a pill, I quit due to insomnia and nausea.  Hard to take care of my family feeling like that.

I wouldnt worry so much about the shaky muscle thing.
Do you stretch?
Even before my anxiety hit, I would go to say stretch my legs in the "about to relax" kinda way, and if I stretched them to a lock up position then they would kinda shake involuntary, its just part of the muscles.
Yes Ive had the problem your talking about, Ill be doing something and if I move my muscle the right way it'll kind of have this shake/ vibrate to it. Anxiety can definitely cause that, even when your not feeling anxious.
The reason why is because when we are in our anxious mode our bodys deplete our stored up nutrients, Glucose, etc.. from our muscles to feed the "fight or flight" and it takes allot out of us, and take allot of time to regain it back, so basically it gives us malnutrition.
Theres allot of people that get stressed induced anemia because of that.
Nothing big, but youll notice a big difference if you start taking some good multi Vitamins.
Talk to your doc about checking your blood for deficiency's. I bet he finds a B vitamin deficiency.

I am new here and have been having all kinds of neuro. symptoms for 9 months.  tingling from head to toe, twitching muscles, blurry vision, chill sensations, stabbing pains, and shaky muscles.  I am seeing a neurologist who has done every test except lumbar puncture.  He said it could be MS, but my MRI's have come back normal.  I'm waiting for results of another MRI I had done last week.  He is now saying it could be anxiety.  Now I can believe much of it could be, but I have muscles that shake when I move them.  For example, when I flex my foot up and bring it down, my calf shakes, or when I raise my arms up and bring them down they shake.  It is always on the downward movement that the shaking occurs., like my muscle movement is not smooth. Sometimes my knee will shake when I go down stairs. Have you had this problem?

They gave me klonopin and Prozac. Now thinking about it I dont think the Prozac does anything but makes it worse, The Klonopin actually helped it, Immediately
Now I just have a different type of anxiety that comes and gos, and is probably due to me quitting my Klonopin
I think it kept getting worse and worse because of the lack of sleep and no break from it.
There needs to be a break in the cycle. I suggest you talk to your Doc about maybe a weeks worth of Klonopin, or Valium just to break the cycle of anxiety.
I dont ever suggest short acting benzo because they arent no good for people with a constant anxiety state.
And if your going through anything like I was, which it sounds like you are, Id say ask the Doctor for 10 1/2 Mg klonopin "or whatever your doc thinks" and take it 12 hours apart to break the cycle, just for a week because they are addictive.
It sound like you need a break, to get your grip to fight it better

Lexapro can really help within 1-2 weeks in some people.  There are other meds that can be used short-term until the Lexapro really kicks in.  Lexapro won't reach full efficacy for at least a month.  Good luck.  Let us know how you make out.

Are you currently on any medication for anxiety?  If not, I would seriously recommend checking with your doctor; it sounds like you need something to get you calmed down.  I'm not a doctor, so I'm not going to recommend anything specific, but I will tell you that from what I've seen/heard and gone through, anxiety can include any of the symptoms you mentioned.  But it's also good to get the other tests done to make sure it's not any other health problems.  So I don't know if this was much help (I hope so), but good luck to you!

If talking to your mom makes you feel better, than you've found the best treatment to battle anxiety. I wish I had that. When I get in a funk, with the nerve feeling and the derealization, nothing can calm me down. I feel like I'm dying. If something can snap you out of that, like a concerned mother, than hold onto that for dear life. You should probably get a checkup done by your doctor to make sure that your symptoms aren't anything more serious. But the fact that you find comfort in talking to your mother is a huge plus and it should help you get through this. Good for you and good luck.

I seriously go through the same thing.. I get it the worst at night.. My mom told me that it's all what you put in your head that makes u freak out. I get panic attacks that Im going to die of some horrible disease that I convince myself that I probably have. I hate anxiety. It makes me believe **** that would never happen. I also get the intensly shocked feelings like im gonna suffocate or something. I really really hate this - Ive felt like im not alive for a long time now. Its like im watching myself live. It scares the **** out of me, which gives me more anxiety. I also feel like im loosing memory. I cant remember what I did today or yesterday without thinkin hard about it.. but when i realize i cant remember anything, i tell myself that i have some horrible alzheimers disease and i need medical treatment or im going to die. I think its all in my head. I just freak out too easy. Should i see a doctor or something? I always talk to my mom but she seems to always talk me out of insanity and make me feel better about the whole thing.

Thats exactly how I started off, plus more symptoms, 24/7!!!! very scary and frustrating.
If you are feeling what I was feeling, I suggest talking to your Doc about something to take while your waiting for the lexapro to kick in.
And if its like mine was 24/7 I suggest something that last a long time.
I also was having the WORSE time sleeping, in and out of ERs freaking out for no reason, feeling of loosing it, trembling, blurred vision, Derealization, Depersonalization, Tired but amped, frustrated, confused, SHOCKED feelings of my nerves were on fire, I could actually feel all my nerve endings, very weird.
Dont give up and dont read into symptoms too much.
I suggest NOT TO LOOK THEM UP! It will make it worse, just keep good support, and give yourself time to heal, trying to rush it will make it harder because of the pressure to get better.
I hope that helps ya, you'll see Allot of people have the same symptoms, and have that constant feeling.
Do you get the buzzing feeling too?
