numbness and tingling...anxiety?

i have been suffering from anxiety for a while now, and im falmiliar with all of the symptoms, but lately i've been feeling differently. one side of my face, the bottom left under my lip, will go numb during a panic attack. not completely numb...i can still feel when i touch it, just not as much. it's like my ability to feel in that specific area had been turned down. also, i get the tingling in my fingers and toes, but not like normal. it's like i get a tinging sensation in one specific place, like one of my fingertips, and just for about 30 seconds. im not sure if this is something common, or something i should see a doctor for. please message back with your thought/comments...

I started "tingling' recently and have panic and anxiety attachks and since last year when I did really have a TIA and was admitted through ER.. now my mind really goes in all directions.... our mind can play tricks on us... we must know what our bodys feel and be aware.. take a deep breath and redirect our mind.. thank you again..

I'm so glad I'm reading all of these, I've been suffering with anxiety for a while and didn't realise. I was have the tingling on my head and face for months Iand didn't realise what it was. My mum died about 6 months ago from a brain tumour, and now in result of it I have health anxiety and can't shift it. I've been going to CBT, and as much as its help me understand my symptoms I can't get the thoughts out of my head that I'm going to have a heart attack or stroke.

Recently I've been back to my doctor, and I have been put on fluoxtine to try and help with my depressive thoughts so I'm praying it will work.

I have been to my doctors more times in 6months than I have in 10 years, and it's a pain in the arse(pardon my French) but each time I've been it reasures me and that's became my drug. Hopefully the medication will work because I hate this feeling as will everybody else with it.

Last year was such and up and down year for me it was and emotional roller coaster so I'm not surprised this is happening to me.

I do recommend CBT it has help me, but I've got a few more problems that need sorting out.

Hope you get better, and everyone else on here.

Hi I'm 20 and I really cant sleep, I have had this numbness and pins and needles feeling for the past week, sometimes joined with difficulty swallowing. Mainly on my left hand side of my feet or arm. I am so scared, I have many symptoms of anxiety but this is kind of new except when i was having actual panic attacks. I usually feel this when I’m relaxed and I have been trying my hardest to think of other things and go to sleep. But I am so scared I am having a stroke. I have had symptoms of anxiety for about half a year now, and i had a bad two weeks about 6mounths ago where I felt sick and shaky in a constant state of panic, I managed to move on from that with out taking prescribed medication, but the symptoms are still here. I have had about 12 different blood tests, urine tests, been doctors so many times every month and I never used to before this. I have also had my heart rate monitored and have suffered with tender muscles for months. Does any one relate to this? Thanks

P.S I have been feeling so down recently (mainly because of this) and have a stressy personality.

Numbness and tingling, I can check that box too.  And Mama1972 is right on the money with the viscious cycle part.  You feel it, you worry, so you feel it more, and worry more.  As to the MS piece, check out the symptoms on Fibromyalgia.  And when working with a psychologist/psychiatrist, definitely get checked out  for bipolar types; I know bipolar and other symptoms contribute to fibromyalgia patterns, and early detection of that is a good thing.  If you end up getting referred to a rheumatologist to check for FM, then make sure you get one that specializes in working with FM, and they can rule it in or out more definitively.  Keep your stress as low as possible, get lots of sleep, and relax as much as you can.

Bottom line, remind yourself of the anxiety factor, and that worry about it is more of the issue at this point than the disease is, so check into treating that as a priority.  Be agressive in what you seek treatment for, and don't feel bad about anything you come up negative for.  Anything ruled out is another peice of peace of mind.  I know I'm happy to have an easy answer, rather than have the "doom" I fear come true.  Hang in there, you aren't alone, and you aren't crazy!  You are just having a tough time, and you WILL get through it!

I have been suffering from severe anxiety since October. It all started with a trip to the ER for a case of food poisoning. I had some bleeding from the rectum and that's why I went in. I was told by the ER doctor that it was normal to pass a small amount of blood when you are sick like that. I have also been told by my PCP that it's normal too. I have had a full physical including boodwork, stool sample, urine test and Pap smear. I've even had a pelvic CT scan because I went back to the ER because I have a feeling of fullness in my rectum. All came back normal. My doctor says that I have GAD/Anxiety and has put me on Xanax ER. Lately I have notice that my legs and my arms feel tingly or kind of numb. I have now convinced myself that I have MS. I have been so stressed that I feel like I'm going crazy. This feels like a neverending cycle. The doctors tell me that I have a heightened sense of my body, but I feel what I feel. Any advice from anyone is appreciated. P.S. I have just started seeing a therapist to learn to deal with my anxiety.

I'm experiencing much the same symptoms as you & have worked myself into a tizzy.  I've googled my symptoms endlessly & have completely scared myself into believing I have MS.  Three doctors that I've seen, however, tend to believe it's anxiety-related.  I used to suffer from panic disorder almost twenty years ago, and was "panic-free" until just recently.  I'm going to be having an MRI two weeks from now & a follow up with a neurologist.  I'm currently taking Xanax for anxiety.

Anxiety can present itself in so many forms.  The sad part is that it's a vicious cycle...  Your finger starts to tingle, then you worry, then the worry makes the symptoms get worse.  It's true when they say the mind is a powerful thing.

There are many ways to help yourself get over this anxiety...medication, meditation, yoga, herbal remedies.

You & your doctor need to see eye to eye.  If I were you, I'd get a complete workup to ensure they're not missing anything.  Sometimes a B12 deficiency or low calcium levels could cause tingling.  It might help to put your mind at ease to know you're a "healthy person".

Be well...good luck.

Yes, numbness and tingling are anxiety related.  I get the numbness and tingling around my mouth and tongue at times, and sometimes in my hands.  Go to anxietycentre.com and click on anxiety symptoms on the left of the homepage.  It gives all symptoms of anxiety...Hope this helps.
