Sorry to disagree, but most people with anxiety attacks do worse with alcohol, as it produces more disorientation. And poppy seed tea, which poppy seeds are you talking about? California poppy is the only legal tea, and those aren't addictive at all, they're a relatively mild relaxant though they can produce drowsiness. Opium poppies are illegal, but the tea traditionally used is also not addictive and is also rather mild. It wasn't until the British, in order to sell tobacco, got people smoking opium (it won't stay lit without the bed of tobacco) that addiction started to become a big problem, and then of course came the opiates derived from opium that were much stronger and quite addictive. It's important not to post things here when a person is in the middle of an anxiety attack that aren't true -- you really don't want to hurt someone. Peace.
The best home remedy i know of is poppy seed wash aka poppy seed tea but be very careful this can be very addictive.
