I as well am having that same issue feeling like my skin is crawling and i am taking 25mg also
hello i need help. i have been taking 50 mgs of zoloft for 3 weeks now and still getting bad side effects. cant eat, alittle diarhea, aniexty and weak feeling blah and dont want to do anything. Is this common after this long. I have been on this medicine before and quit about 8,ths ago so think it would work again wouldnt it.
Well, it's likely that the doctor figured it was a side effect and that it would go away on it's own (which could have been the case). Unfortunately with meds, there is no easy way to "figure it out" without sticking it out a little. Sadly, you will now not know if it was just a side effect that would have resolved with time, because you stopped taking it so quickly.
There is often a period as you are adjusting to these meds (the first 2 weeks or so) that may be a bit uncomfortable. It's not always easy to endure side effects, but like I told you, the only way to know is to try to hang in there. My honest opinion is, your doctor handled this perfectly fine, that is what is to be expected. You explained a mild symptom, certainly nothing alarming or nothing that put you in any distress. That's why the doc was being conservative, and trying to give it some time. Really, unless the patient insists on stopping the med, that is all they can do.
I never fault anyone for seeking another opinion, just be sure that when you DO talk to your new doctor, you try to follow his/her recommendations as best you can, or you will never get to truly assess the effectiveness of a medication.
my psy nurse I only saw 1 time for an evaluation for meds said to try until this friday and if the problem still exists he would change to another med.
I did not like the fact that he did not take more time to try fiqure out why this was happening and seemed to quick to just change meds.
I do not trust this meds and reations so I stopped taking it and are currently trying to find a dr.that will prescribe and treat me also for therapy.
I have mild asthma and allergies as well but I also take Zoloft without those side effects. Sure you could be having a reacation but, it could also be your anxiety so worried about side effects.... That is probably why your doc wants to wait to change your meds, to see if the feelings subside.
This sounds like a mild side effect. A TRUE allergic reaction to a medication would be obvious, you wouldn't miss it. You would have a very noticeable rash and/or hives.
You are communicating with your doctor, which is the most important thing. My opinion is, if you don't experience obvious signs of an adverse reaction (like I explained above), then I think you should stick it out. These medications commonly come with various side effects, and everyone is different as to what they experience. Typically, any side effects will start to improve after a week or two, so I would give the Zoloft at least two weeks before making any changes.
Let us know how you're doing!
Yes, you can have an allergic reaction to any medication. Is this still going on, or has it let up any at all?
