it's good you're seeing a doctor so soon. there's no reason to let something like this go on longer than it needs to without help. if you have anxiety between now and then, i'd try staying active and doing things you enjoy doing, whether it be work around the house, excercise, music, etc...and even things you don't normal do but that will get you out of the house for a little while. also keep in mind that while a doctor likely won't cure you your first visit, it is the first step to getting better. i found focusing on my upcoming apt. helped relieve some of my panic attacks. it gave me hope and that calmed the anxiety.

also, make sure if it's a new doctor, you're completely open with them. also, if it's a new doctor and they turn out to be an idiot...don't give up on the process. find a new one immediately and look forward to that.

good luck.

it sounds like there is more to it than just anxiety. sometimes anxiety is the product of some greater psychological issue...but a doctor would know better than i. i think if you are worried what people may think of you while posting about anxiety in an anxiety forum, then it's possible there are deeper issues that may need to be explored.

for the short term...staying active seems to help a lot of people relieve immediate panic...but thinking about long term, you may need a good psychologist and psychiatrist. i find psychologists are better and helping you explore yourself.

Hi, Candice.  There is NO NEED TO SUFFER.  Please seek medical attention ASAP.  There are medications, psychotherapy, etc. that can help you.  Ask your general practitioner for the name(s) of good psychiatrists who can prescribe medication that can help you.  You need NOT suffer needlessly.  Do it as soon as you can, so that you can start to feel better.  Hang in there.  There IS light at the end of the tunnel.

The first thing you need to realize is that you are not alone and you are not the first one to ever experience what you are experiencing.  The good news is there is help out there.  But you have to take the first step and get it.  You need to see your doctor or even better a psychiatrist.  The sooner the better.  The psychiatrist can probably help you better than a general practice MD.  There is hope.  Never give up your hope.  God Bless  you.

It sounds like you are having a tough time but at least you realise that something needs to change.

Have you discussed any of this with your doctor? They should really be your first port of call. Are you on any meds for the anxiety or therapy? Both of these work really well together.

Other things to try are exercise, deep breathing, relaxation sessions, herbal tea, aromatherapy, the list is endless but sometimes it really needs the stronger stuff like prescibed meds from the doctor.

You will get there in the end, it just takes time and patience and finding what works best for you.

Good luck
