hey bro your not the only one going through this. i cant believe i have found others with this same symptom, im a 24 year old male. i have had numerous tests done and the docs came up with nothing, that in itself was very depressing to me. i feel the knotted twisted stomach all the time, and im pretty much rested on the idea its anxiety. i go through so many emotions its unreal. this all started on my high school graduation trip down in cancun, 5 yrs ago. it only lasted a few months then, and since then it has happened 2 or 3 times for the same period of time. it all stated again january 2006 and it hasn't went away since, and im starting to think it wont go away. i have a poor appetite and sleeping problems, can you imagine how stressed out that can make someone, fortunately im on meds. i take remeron which is an anti-depressant, and that helps me sleep and it gives me some what of an appetite, and that is what helps me scrape by. my doc only gives me anxiety meds every so often b/c of their addictive nature, i wish there were something i could take permanately, b/c everything feels like its in working order when i do take atavan(lozaparem). ive accepted my illness and i cope with it everyday, some days are good, some days are bad, and some are just outright terrible, especially when i get panic attacks. i get the swelled up feeling in the throat which i hate, its the most annoying feeling, my stomach starts to feel numb and tingly and knotted all at the same time and i just start to feel disoriented and hot when im at my worse. i just thank god for the good days that i have, and i pray everyday. i hope ya'll get some comfort outta this, and just remember we are all battling anxiety together!

We have to change our mind sets....because that is where all of this pain lives...in our minds....it is affecting our whole bodies...we have to retrain our minds to think positively.

I do suggest, to go back to a gastroenterologist....maybe check your gall bladder...some symptoms sound familiar to that.

As I always say...check out all the physical first....once that is fine....get working on the brain...

however, still trying to figure it out!

thanks for the replies

The feeling i have is like my stomach is twisted in an area for the whole day.Ive had this feeling for almost a whole year,it has never changed.the medication i was taking is called for the "AM" was Ratio-Citalopram in the "PM" i took Novo Lorazem and for my stomach was Nexium, all 3 of these I have no clue what they are.im not one to know medical stuff,I just wanted to be fixed.

I stoped taking them because I herd they are addictive and your depend on them, also I herd they make you have no emotion after a certian period of time.I dont want to be a zombie :(.

also talking to a phyciatrist isnt that expensive?.I wasnt really one to believe they worked.people see them for year and years

is there any other way to deal with this? what about getting into extreme shape.would this help me not feel so weird all the time?

just thinking about days when i was normal makes we wanna cry, like now im being punished for somthing wrong.

can you try to describe exactly how the "twisted stomach" feels?  the reason i ask is because there was a time period of a few months where i was barely eating because of stomach discomfort and i was worried it was an ulcer (i still think i have one but i'm not that worried about it because a few of my friends have ulcers and they're fine).  So even though I usually don't have this discomfort anymore, I've still been wondering if it was from depression or an ulcer.

for me the feeling was like i'm SOOO hungry but i CAN'T eat.  I can't really describe the pain.. it's dull it's burning it's sharp it's hungry and it feels like anything i put into my stomach will make it hurt.  but eventually i lost so much weight that i had to just force myself to eat regardless of worrying it will hurt.  and it went away for the most part but i still get it sort of often.  if i go too long without eating, once i get too hungry the cycle starts all over and it always takes a while of getting stuck back into this routine before i can break the cycle again.

tHE DREADED twisted stomach!!!  Yes, I know that feeling very well...I had it for 6 months straight before I finally got help...I see that you went to your doctor first...my suggestion is to go to your doctor for a complete physical first to rule out all medical problems...maybe even a gastroenterologist.  THEN GET TO A PSYCHIATRIST to get the correct help you need and the correct diagnosis...you can be suffering from anxiety, depression or the combination of the two...(that's me!).  Only a psychiatrist who deals with these issues on a daily basis can give you true insight into your problem and prescribe the right medications or therapy....general practitioners try to help, but you need to go to the one who KNOWS.

No, you are not the only one and I believe we are the majority!  I know exactly how you are feeling and you need to go back to the doc and tell them, again, how you feel.  An internal medicine doctor is your best bet here.  Also, you should give any med up to six weeks for the full effect, unless, of course, your symptoms compound 10-fold (as mine did once from a med that did not agree with me).

I feel so bad for you asI just know, know, know..... What med did the doc prescribe? And are you seeing a therapist as well - that is VERY important to combine the two - meds and therapy.

Please post again and let me know if I can be of further assistance, but also know we on this site are all here for you and will work with you so that you can communicate better with the docs and get first-hand information on any meds.

Stay cool..............
