Hi,throat tightening is a classic symptoms of anxiety,i did experienced this before and now no more, just take it easy i know its hard and over in time it will be gone in days that u even wont noticed it.
Depression and anxiety can very well go together. I have both. If you really don't think you have depression though then you might want to ask your Dr about a longer acting anti anxiety med. Yes, they are available. Klonopin is one of them and many people do very well on that med. It's easier to quit if and when your ready, it stays in your system much longer and it's not as additive as Xanax. It also does'nt have the side effects that antidepressants do. You may feel a little tired at first so ask your Dr about a low dose to start off with. If you need it increased you'll know and you can ask your Dr about doing that.
no im not suffering from depression i dont think. My doc says they run hand in hand though but ive never really been depressed.I didnt know they had daily anxiety meds u can take on a daily basis except for short acting benzos.
Are you having problems with depression also? I'm asking because if your not then you might want to try just and anti anxiety med and not an antidepressant.
Xanax works great for panic attacks but it is short acting and leaves your body pretty fast. It does have it's place and helps many of us that have anxiety but it is additive. So you may want to talk to your Dr about a longer acting anti anxiety med.
I'm glad to hear your in counseling and it's helping. Hang in there, okay. Take care. Remar
Hang in there...classic anxiety and panic...been there, done that, and still doing it...You will overcome this...I know it does not seem like that now, but you will. I'm taking baby steps and getting better everyday. Know that when you make it through a symptom, you will continue to make it through. Keep us posted on how you are doing...
my dr diagnosed me with this and ive tried other meds that were supposed to be a daily med.I tried 3 diff ones all gave me horrible side effects and yes i gave them all at least a month with the exception of lexapro could only last 2 weeks on that.thanks for the response. This is just a horrible wayt to live...
You did say you have GAD. Were you diagnosed with this? I would say yes, a lot of us that have anxiety having trouble swallowing and the tightness around the throat feeling.
Taking a Xanax seems to help you. Have you thought about taking something longer acting that helps your GAD? You may want to talk to your Dr about this. Take care. Remar
