when to call the doctor

This 10 mg of paxil is kicking my butt...side effects of headaches, more anxiety, tight chest pains, dizziness, visual problems,diahreea,nausea....I know everyone says it takes 1 to 2 weeks to get in your system but I am staying so sick...I have only been on it for 6 days and I have already lost 5 pounds and my anxiety is worse now than before....I am still on klonipin and have been for 5 years but it doesnt even seem to be helping....my dr gets so mad everytime I call cause they have put me on so many drugs and I always have the same problems and usually end up getting off of them but I know I really need something bad cause my anxiety has gotten out of control....Just wondering if I should call my dr or suffer thru another week and see what happens....it is so hard to feel this sick every day...thanks

I'd make a list to see if you think it's really the Paxil or your brain playing tricks on you are possibly thinking way too much about taking Paxil? And your anxiety is just getting more out of control? Could this be possible you think? I remember when I took Lexapro for the 1st time I thought it cured me in 1 day. Not possible. It was def. placebo effect. Which can be great! lol. But sometimes be not so great. Then I took Lexapro again once down the road, and I felt more anxiety... so I couldnt tell if it was me making myself do this or was it really the Lexapro.

I think you should call your Dr. or Nurses hotline whenever you feel you should, if it helps, then do it. =)

6 days is not a long time to be on Paxil, so you should have to problems stopping it. But if you do stop it, and you still feel as bad, it was prob your anxiety vs the Paxil.

Hang in there! Don't feel bad about calling your Dr. etc. You are trying to find what works for you, and you will!!! Just keep trying and keep your head up. =)

I understand what you are saying about thinking about it to much but can you actuallly have all the side effects with just thinking about it....I have been so sick and my eyes look terrible....everyone says what is wrong with you....my eyes are dilated so big and I have black circles under my eyes but I am sleeping....just really nauseous and dizzy and headaches...my first day was not so bad but everyday since then has gotten worse...my anxiety is really bad in the morning when I first wake up...I have knots in  my stomach ....its just hard to say but I am going to hang on another week and see what happens....I just hope if they increase it to 20 mg that the side effects dont get worse or start all over again...I am just so sensitive to meds of any kind...thanks for your encouraging words...need all I can get ....

Thanks lynn for the encouragment....at least like you said if I give it time I will know for sure and if I quit i will always wonder if it could have been to one  to help me...I cant even focus my vision has gotten so bad and I had the dizzinesss beforee the paxil but it seems to have made it worse...all the doctors I ever see seem to get so upset with me if I cannot tolerate a drug but when I first got sick 5 years ago I lost 40 pounds in a month....no one could find out what was wrong with me so I have slowly declined over the past 5 years...I have tried so many anti-depressants and they never work for me...in fact I have already tried paxil twice before but since its been about 2 years ago they wanted to me try it again....

Its so hard cause your mind gets in this set pattern that you think you will never get better and I havent in 5 years but I keep trying and praying something will finally work to help me...I am getting to the point I dont want to go out but I thinks its mainly because of the weird feelings in my head...there is so much tight pressure and my neck and back of my head just crack all the time and I have severe headaches too.....they diagnoised me with GAD and fibromyalgia....but I didnt get any of this til after I had to quit work because of the dizziness...I still suffer from it today and have every kind of test and dr you can think of ....they just say its anxiety, so I guess I have to go along with them even though I feel its something they arent finding...

But thankyou for respondiing...I willl keep trying and try to make it thru to the 3rd week....I am only on 10 mg to you think after 3 weeks they will increase it and will I go thru all the side effects again..OMG ...I hope not....God Bless you and hope you have a good evening

I had really bad weight loss when I started Effexor years ago.  Everyone wanted to know if I was dieting. My diet was extreme nausea and having to force myself to eat applesauce and dry toast.  I know it's rough sometimes.  The fact of the matter is until you get to week three you will never know if the side effects would have subsided.  I can understand your concern because each day seems like a year.  Some doctors are not very empathetic when it comes to side effects to meds.  "all in your head" kind of mentality.  Hopefully you can make it through.  I took some medicine for the dizziness and nausea that the doc prescribed.  In fact some of them even have an anti-anxiety effect.  Ask your doc if he  could prescribe one of those.
