zoloft and insomnia....whew...

hey all, here i am at 12:30 wide awake. i have been taking zoloft for about 8 days. i seem to be med sensitive. i feel like i am on speed all the time. i have almost too much energy; all day and unfortunately at night. i have cut back to .25 mgs and started yesterday taking it in the morning so maybe i should just wait and see. i was on prozac 20 mgs daily and did not have this problem. i recently did 2 week long ward stays and i have been unable to sleep since. i ask the doc and he says it is anxiety, i ask about the night sweats and he says the same thing. does anyone else have this problem?  i tried paxil and wellbutrin a few years ago and they both immediately made me feel jittery and even more anxious and i was advised to go off of them. i may be losing a very good paying job soon and i want to stay on something that i can get generic...i ask my doc if i could take remeron on an as needed basis to sleep and did last night and had me first good sleep in 7 days. i am afraid of getting addicted to needed something to aid my sleep and would rather not go down that road. is ther a spell check on this site? i feel like a misspelling moron!!!!

gee....i dont think i have many more to try. i was told by docs that if the ssri makes you feel bad right away it is wrong and should be stopped. this is different because i do not feel jittery or anxious, i actually feel good, it is just the insomnia that is driving me kookoo. the only good experience i ever had on an ssri was the first 3 months of prozac, b ut now i have heard all this bad stuff and a young doc who was filling in at the hospital told me that zoloft was the GOLD STANDARD of ssris and they will never have one this good again. i have heard from other people that the insomnia wore off after 6 or 7 weeks....well i have to go back to the sweatshop on monday and they already think i am a nut job. this med depression anxiety thing is a pain in the bottom...oh well thax for the feed back.

i had the remeron from the psychiatrist. i had some traumatic events and ended up in the psych ward for seven days, the doc put me on remeron, kept me on the prozac added cymbalta and thru in klonopin as well. i tried to return to work and was a babbling idiot. i could not complete a sentence and or answer a question...literally. that is how i figured out i was med sensitive, because the docs were sooo suprised at my babbling idiot reaction. i called the doc after getting out of the hospital thinking klonopin was the culprit and ask if i could quit cold turkey, he said that would be fine. after 4 days of hallucinating, crying, and  other weird things i ended up back in the hospital. i know now that i had a VERY bad withdrawal from the klonopin. i am on FMLA from work and really need to get this worked out before going back to work monday. the remeron i still had and i had a appointment with him yesterday and popped the as needed for sleep question he said ' that would be ok" he is an old quack i think, i tried to find another psychiatrist but it will take 3 months to get into see one. is the insomnia temporary?

hey there.. i have been on zoloft for 4 weeks now and still can't sleep. if i am lucky i am getting and hour or two a day. i am also getting night sweats and now am driving everyone nuts and seem even more like a crazy person due to extreme and intense outbursts of anger and crying fits. i see my psych on the 8th and i am getting off of it. if it is affecting you ( or me for that instance) like this than it is not in my nor your best interest to keep taking it. it is time to try something else and through trial and error see what works. good luck....shy

It's not uncommon for patients to feel nervous & agitated on Zoloft. I'm not sure of the dosages of Prozac, but it is known to be the most "energizing" of the SSRI's.

Did your Dr. offer you Remeron as your only AD to take? It's indicated for severe depression and definitely helps with the sleep, as it can sometimes be too sedating for people.
I hope that you can get a solution soon...
best,
