zoloft side affects~

I initially started on Zoloft for extreme anxiety and depression that was probably triggered by undiagnosed sleep apnea.  I started on 12.5 due to drug sensitivity and worked my way up to 25 milligrams and felt great for about 4 months and than the anxiety and depression came back.  I have several questions.  When I get anxiety and depression I get fatigued, really fatigued with muscle weakness.  Is this normal?  My doctor upped my Zoloft to 50 milligrams.  I just went up to another 12.5 mg so I've been taking 37.5mg for about 10 days and although initially I felt better now the anxiety and depression has kicked in and headache and diarrhea like when I first started the Zoloft.  Is this normal?  should I stick with it? should I just go up to the full 50mg?  I'm starting nursing school in the fall and need to get this all worked out so I can make it through.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for your comment.  Have you read or are you concerned about the long term affects of long term use of Zoloft?  What do you feel is the best time to take zoloft, morning or night?

Muscle weakness/soreness is normal, and caused by your muscles not receiving the apporpriate signals from your brain.  And, since you are tapering up with your doctor, you have to take into account that there will be some ups and downs for awhile until your body is receiving the correct dosage.  You can expect this sort of thing for up to two weeks (or maybe more) AFTER you begin to take the highest dose.  I have been on zoloft over 10 years now, and I know that zoloft continues to work better and better over time, and will level out at some point.  I hope this is helpful.  Blessings - Blu
