zoloft

i have been taking zoloft for 6 years got very sick a month ago and stopped taking it never realizing it had such withdrawel symtome. my doctor gave me zanax temporily. how long will it take for zoloft to start again in my system im taking again 25 milligrams

Yes, like Mary said..it has to build up in your system again.  MOST people see results in 2-4 weeks, but it could take as long as 4-6 weeks.  Because you have taken it before, and recently...it may reach therapeutic levels a tad faster.  That is also a pretty low dose, is that what you were taking before?  Quite possibly, after a week or so...your doc may increase your dosage.

Hope you are feeling better soon....remember to never abruptly stop taking ANY med without first speaking to your doc.  I know when you get ill....you don't always think about it....but you could have saved yourself some grief, that's for sure.  I'm feeling for ya!

I was weaned off of Lexapro and just started taking it again. Lexapro is an antidepressant like Zoloft. My doctor said it could take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks; just as if you were starting with the medication it can take a while to reach it's full potential.
