You started out with SUPPLE - don't know anything about it - but have heard that a juice made of raw potato, apple and carrots help with pain.  I bought the juicer - now need to try it.  I have Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Disc Disease (no discs left), heart problems, liver problems and other not so exotic problems.  At present I take Essiac because it helps me.  It may or may not help others - but I believe it's worth a try.  Available at health food stores in tea or capsule form.  Good health to you from a little old lady.

You have really been through it!  I am glad you posted.  It does help to know you are not alone.
I have the ulna nerve problem in my left (dominant) hand.  I have thought about going in to see about the surgery, but have not done it yet.  Sometimes it's less numb than others.  I call it my Hurricane Ike injury because when Ike struck the Texas coast last year, I watched the coverage incessantly on my computer with my head propped on my hand and that is when it started.  I am so bad, I have let this go too long, but it cycles through times when it is better so I always think maybe it is going to resolve itself.
How bad was your numbness in your fingers?  What did they try before surgery?

your symptoms are very close to what I've experienced. I have osteo-artritis.carpal tunnel synd. and fibromyalgia. Had 6 operations in 4 yrs. 2 arthoscopic surgeries (one on each shoulder) my right shoulder never felt right afterwards. This was all due to spurs, so I had partial shoulder replacement(just the cap) My shoulder range of motion is better but it still aches all the time. I also had carpal tunnel surgery and ulna nerve release. The tingling  & numbness in the pinky and ring fingers were my symptoms. The ulna nerve release helped the carpal surgery didn't. I also had my thyroid out and my gall bladder. I've been very depressed because of what I no longer can do . Every thing seems a major, tired all the time. I'm lucky in one regard that i'm not raising small children or having to go off to work. I,m on Lyrica, Cymbalta, Hydrocloroquine, Celebrex, Vicodin, Levothyroxine, and Calcitrol, and calcium. What a mix!! This forum as well as others are very informative. I also subscribe to the Arthritis Foundation magazine as well as the Hypoparathyrodism web sight. These as well as many other sights have a lot of very useful info. Good to know all these weird aches and pains, thought and feeling are common to others. Good to know one is not alone!! Hope you find your answers good luck.

I know what you mean about getting tired of the medical stuff.  The diagnosis process can take soooo long.  Mine went on for 2 years.  I was so lethargic, I had a terrible time mustering the energy to stay on the docs.  Making the phone calls and doing the research left me exhausted.
I hope you are tracking all of the symptoms you are developing.  It is so frustrating how many symptoms overlap.  It makes figuring out what is going on difficult.  Sometimes you have more than 1 cause and that makes it much harder to get a diagnosis.
The impact this has on our lives and ability to function is the hardest thing to adjust to.  I was not especially athletic, but I was always jumping up to do this or that and tackling projects around the house.  About a month ago I decided I wanted to remove a wall paper border and paint a room.  After very little progress in 2 days, I had to break down and hire folks to come in and do it for me.  I hated that because I used to get wild hairs and paint much larger rooms over a weekend.  Those days are gone for me.  Hopefully you will be able to resume most or all of your activities once the diagnose and treat you.
The promising thing is the docs are testing you and pursuing things instead of just writing it off.  Hang in there.  It is worth it in the long run.

Hello Sandi,

I agree, it's so out of control, Lucky for me, I bought my home before the crazy spike.
If you think about it, the Medical industry did the same as housing in many ways ;-(

It would be nice to see who I'm talking with  hehe..  If you don't want to show it I'd understand, we all have reasons for we do or don't do.Please know, I don't judge, and I'm
not on the prowl for a girlfriend, just friends ;-)

Woke up this morning, numbness both hands and arms , sweating left side of neck
and pain in the Ring fingers mostly?? My doctors have been acting like I'm a kook ;-(  Maybe this new group will figure this out? It does appear that they're trying  to rule out by process of elimination.Next stop MRI neck and spine, which is what I told them from the get go. Maybe because of the history of Meningitis yrs ago  and the slight bouts of vertigo, they wanted to rule out a tumor.

Sandi, I'm really getting tired of all this medical stuff, I've always been so healthy and athletic, it scares me .

Hope you are having a relaxing long week end.

Friends,

Danny

Had not even thought about posting a pic, will ponder that.  Beaumont is very hot.  I grew up in Houston and had to move to North TX.  It's still hot but not as humid.
My in-laws are in La Jolla.  Southern Cal. is gorgeous.  I have been in the LA area quite a bit on biz.  I don't think I could live there, though.  I am a big fan of the cost of living in TX.  I think I could get a closet in CA for the price of my home in TX.

Thank you for the kind words.  I just had my 1 year anniversary as a community leader.  I am not on staff, just volunteer my time here as I can.
I bet you are happy that it is not brain related :)  I have actually have spinal stenosis.  It is the narrowing of the spinal canal.  I have it in my neck.  My mothers boyfriend just had surgery for lumbar spinal stenosis on Monday.  They decompressed the area but the way she described it was like the breathe right nasal strips.  Very interesting.  I just read that cervical spinal stenosis can cause arm pain.
I think you are right to keep mentioning the protein shakes. Anything that was a change before this started is worthy of noting and of suspecting.  In my career I do a lot of troubleshooting and the first thing we look at is any recent changes.
Keep me posted on how you are doing and keep after those docs!

Hello,

42? you're a youngster, te hehe!  FYI,  my MRI came back and I do not have anything growing (tumor) on my Vestibular branch or in the brain. Very good news..

They said I do have a cyst in my hand ring finger knuckle (phalanges ??) I feel that but still wonder why I have the numbness radiating throughout both shoulders and down to both hands causing Trigger lock.. This all happened when I was taking the extra Protein...The ENT guy said , it's off to a new dept for me, now I have to see the Muscc/Skeleto people to see where the nerve is affected?  I'm sure that something is causing it, he mentioned that they will look deeper into Spinal stenosis? I was so worried that this was all caused from my brain...;-) very happy it's not  that.

Thanks for the good info, what's your first name ? ;-).. Are you working for this site or do you moderate it? You do a fantastic job.

Sorry for the late response - they sent me to CA for biz and then I went on vacation.  Got back and now it's like I was gone 3 weeks.  Been exhausted and this is my first time back on the boards.  Enough of my saga.

I am glad they ran xrays.  bone spurs are like bumps on your bones.  Your tendons roll over them and cause discomfort and pain.  tingling and burning does sound like an entrapped nerve.  You may have to see several docs before you get to the one who will listen, test and treat you for it.  Naproxen is a fairly standard med for inflammation.  If things feel inflamed, I recommend you try it.  Heat always helps my hands more than cold.  I have a fab pair of mittens that I microwave and wear for relief.  I choose to just suffer in the summer, but in winter they are divine.  When my tendons act up, ice seems to help bunches so I keep cool packs in the freezer all the time.  thinking about it, if someone walked through my house to try to guess who lived here, they would probably think a very odd 80 yr old woman lived here who had a strange passion for hard rock and metal bands :)  Since I am 42, this is funny to me.  It could be depressing and for a time I was on meds for depression because of it.  A year of counselling put me on the path of acceptance and now I find the humor in my predicament.  I hope you will get better and not have to deal with limitations, but if you do, come talk to me.  I understand what it is like to lose the ability to do the things you love dearly.  Well, I guess I could still rollerskate, but I would have to be wrapped up and padded to look like the Michelin man

Hello,

well, it's coming around full circle, I've been running back and fourth, If you remember I thought I had Gout and my Dr. ruled our P.A.
The other day after having more trigger locking in both ring fingers my doctor finally ordered x-rays on my hands, she called me and said it appears to be O.A. and there's hear , and spurs? She said she was referring me to the Hand clinic either Ortho or Neuro..note* one thing that's strange is I have numbing  and tingling sensations to both hands usually in the morning.. I still have the tingling and burning in left shoulder and it feels like an impingement? Now I don't know  what to do but wait..don't know to take naproxen, heat ? Cold doesn't seem to do anything. I'm also feeling like all my joints are aching especially in the morning. Sorry ;-(  this is all happening so suddenly.
I'm feeling like I won't be able to ride my bike, lift weights, do my yard work ..;-(  maybe
I'm getting a little depressed or anxious by this?

Hi there.  I have not heard about these specifically.  I have spent my share of money on things that are suppose to help and talked to others who have spent more.  I think the key is to remember that if the product truly worked miracles, it would be all over the Today show, 20/20, the nightly news and the 24 hour news channels.  I am sure this seems jaded, but I had to decide to use this as my litmus test to keep my wallet from draining.
There are many people who swear by miracle cures via supplements and diets.  If they work for you, I say kudos, but until there is unbiased scientific evidence to back it up, I am skeptical.
