Yes, it is definitely a sign of inflammation. My rheumy is refusing to confirm the diagnosis until I have a GI work up completed. My GP didn't move on this and is taking a while to get into a gastro to have done. He needs to confirm the source of my anemia. However, he is thinking unlikely RA now as I don't have any red swollen joints, just pain.
Thanks Trudie,
Have they ever figured out if you have RA or Lupus yet? Would 5.1 mg/l be a sign of inflammation because I have been sore in my joints. I will find out the results of my sedrate tomorrow morning.
It is high. I took this from an article on the web:
What CRP levels are considered "normal"?
The AHA/CDC recommendations specify that "high-specificity CRP" (hs-CRP) levels should be measured. Since levels can fluctuate, they recommend that two separate CRP levels be measured, and then the two values averaged together. Levels less than 1 mg/L are considered "low," levels from 1 to 3 mg/L are considered "average," and levels greater than 3 mg/L are considered "high." High levels indicate an increased risk of cardiovascular events.
