Early Onset DISH

This is a post for "dustybrown" - in reply to her post of Jan 23 2010.

Dear Dusty,

I am a 41year old male who has been diagnosed with Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis. The onset and subsequent diagnosis occurred when I was 37 years of age. At the time none of the attending Doctors believed that such an early onset for this kind of disease was possible.

The majority of symptons you describe match my own particularly in relation to both the cervical and lumbar presentations of the disease and related nerve damage. I too have been told that things are only going to get worse for me.

Currently I am working to establish a website for those people who have Early Onset DISH so that we may share our experiences.

In the interim if you would care to contact me my email address is ***@****

Many thanks

Tony F

Have you seen this journal article on early onset DISH? http://www.oarsijournal.com/article/S1063-4584(08)00381-6/abstract

I was dx'd and am considered early onset DISH also, and am interested in connecting with as many as possible who also deal with the same DX.

I have connected with a group on facebook of approx 60-65.  Some are earlier onset, some are advanced age onset.  After reading what is "known" about EODISH, I found it so surprising  to find so many with early onset, and so many women who also have been dx'd.

Were you able to start the group?  If so, I would be highly interested in connecting with them also.

Warm regards,
Tammy

Hello Tony,
Thanks for replying to me. I sent you a PM because your email address got blocked out. I am very eager to speak with you. My father has a disease in the same family as DISH (another Spondyloarthropathies), so I have been concerned about my back problems for quite some time. I would love to talk with you.
