Compression gloves might help a bit, as well. These help reduce swelling by applying gentle pressure, and help keep the hands warm. Look up IMAK gloves on the internet for one example.
It is important that she find see her doctor for tests to determine what kind of arthritis she has (there are over 100 kinds) so that the appropriate treatment can be prescribed and to stop any deterioration of the joints. Until she can see her doctor she should try putting heat on them and take a fish oil supplement. I hope she can get some relief soon.
