Locking of knuckles without pain

Several months ago I noticed that the second knuckle on the ring finger of my left hand had trouble bending. It would kind of lock up and feel "out of wack" trying to bend it. I am right handed. This would get really bad in the morning and loosen up in time. There is NO pain, so I am not sure if it is arthritis.

Recently, this has begun to happen on the knuckle of my thumb, also on the left hand. When I bend it, there is no popping sound, but it feels like something is popping inside.

What could this be?
