Medication and bruising

I have RA and have been diagnosed 1 year ago. Apparently I'm a severe case. It just keeps progressing. I've been on Plaquenil, Methotrexate for 8 months now. Started Humira injections about 3 months ago. About 2 weeks ago...my left thigh was itching...so I scratched. You should see the bruise I have now. It's been more than a week and its dark purple and measures 6" wide by 6"lenght. Should I worry about it?

Is this just a side effect from the meds?

I must admit...I am getting a little worried.

Thanks

Hello; I am 62, lately my feet are numb a the ball.  Had adema in both legs and body only one time.  Meds took care of it.  I have been alone now for 6yrs.  I am not getting the exorcise I should be.  As an young man I snow skied, tennis, swimming ect. never stood still.  Now things are at a stand still.  Is it in fact lack of exorcize that could be the problem.  Calf cramps at night leaving bruising.  I am on blood pres. meds.  lesinapril?  Alprazolam and pain meds.  lifetime of construction.   Any advice?  Making Doc appt. asap. Should I start walking or lifting?

I am glad I could help.  While I was on the MTX, I was constantly bruised.  I have problems with balance off and on since I developed my conditions.  I bump into things all the time.  I never use to bruise easily, but even now I bruise easy, just not as easy as it was.  Last summer I wore capris almost all the time because my legs were so bruised.  Hang in there.

Hi again tx,

I haven't reported it to my doctor....wasn't sure if I should worry about it. I usually inject myself in the abdomen, So the bruising is not close to my injection. I took pictures of my bruising, it is now fading...I will show my doctor at my next appointment, I feel better now...knowing that other people do bruise easily.

Thanks again for the quick response.

Well, here are the answers to some of the questions I just posed on your other post :)  Sorry about that!  I did experience brusing while on MTX.  While I am not on MTX anymore, I still bruise like crazy.  The meds do make you more susceptible.  If this was near your Humira injection site, this is a documented side effect.  I hope you will report this to your doctor if you have not already done so.
