My mom has had arthritis for a little over 11 years. She found out she has Rheumatoid Arthritis (R.A.) and since then has been on all kinds of medication. She was on the injection drug (where you do it yourself) and had to stop because I'm guessing her white blood cells started to die because everytime she would bump into something (slight touch) she would bruise... and now she gets infusion shots... which I'm not what those are, it's just about once a month when I'm talking to her she tells me she has an infusion appointment. Is it because her immunity to fighting diseases is shot?
Is there any other medication that has actually been successful at fighting this? She believes that I will get this at an older age because the youngest in every generation gets it.
It's stressful seeing my mother, after 11 years, still in a great deal of pain. It's been even worse since I moved 3 years away for school about 5 years ago.
Also, her doctor said that she could opt to get a surgery done on her hands so that way she wouldn't need to take any medication, but there's a 40% chance that the surgery won't help... not good odds huh?
