Pain and spasms around the liver area.

Last night I developed pain in the back, around the area of the liver, within 10 minutes, this had progressed to spasms that were very painful. After laying still, they went in about twenty minutes. This morning It is starting to cause pain again. I am staying with a friend in germany, and have no health insurance there, and so am reluctant to see a doctor. Do I need to?

I would suggest you take some NSAIDs for the pain and avoid drinking any alcohol. You might want to see if massage would relax it or not. Then if it doesn't feel better in a couple of days I'd have it looked at.
