Swollen feet and fingers

My Husband has been suffering for 4 years now without anybody diagnosing his symptons. His Feet are so swollen he can hardly walk , We can't find shoes wide enough to fit his feet as well. The toes are so swollen , His fingers as well .. We need help in finding out what this is.. He just had  major inflamation removed from his wrist and the doctor just said it was an auto immune deficiency in his body.. He has the RA factor but none of his blood results show anything, yet you can clearly see how much pain he is in and how swollen his feet and fingers are.. Can anyone think of what this might be?? He does not want to be on medication for something that noone can diagnose.. Thank You

Thank You for your reply back to me, My husband is 38 years old and has had this condition since probably around the age of 34, He had no infection prior to this coming out.   His Sed rate ( I think is sedimentation rate - westergren) Is  6. In his blood work the only things that came out high  were his c- reactive protein-Quant at a 7.6, his Fibrinogen Antigen was 414, Reptilase Time was 21.5, RDW was 15.4 and LDL  Cholesterol Calc  was 125.. I don't know if that helps at all...  I just know that its been so frustrating for him , We have been to 6 different doctors  and noone can give us a straight answer  or each doctor has called it  something different,  My husband does not like to  take medication.
Thanks for your time,
Jana

4 years?!    What type of doctor is he using?  I implore you to look for a new doctor asap, a rheumatologist.    There are over 100 types of arthritis one could have. For a doctor to drain what I assume was a large amount of fluid from his wrist and say it's just a deficiency is ludicrous.  I was dx with Reactive Arthritis 4 years ago, before I knew what I had my feet were so swollen they were put into casts to control the swelling, my toes looked liked sausages and my hands were just as bad.  The doctor also drained large amounts of synovial fluid from both of my knees 3 times.  I was tested for Lupus and everything else, it was also determined I had the HLA B27 gene.  I went to 3 different doctors and ended up at the Mayo Clinic.  I have ReA and Ankoylosing Spondylitis and take Enbrel for it.  Do you have copies of his blood tests, if not get them.  What is his sed rate?    There is no reason he should have to live like that, please get him to a new doctor and keep us informed.  I know all too well the pain from that type of swelling and it is excruciating.  Glad you found this forum.  Please stay in touch.

Warm regards,

Sue

PS  How old was your husband when this first happened and did he have any kind of infection before this came on?
