Ulnar Deviation Problem

I can not move my hand in the ulnar deviation direction.  my hand is compltly stiff at the joint between my wrist on the ulnar side and the back of my palm.  I am only 22 and male, so this upsets me greatly because i can't lift weights any more, or do other things.

I got an x ray and there is no broken bones, i got an mri and the scan showed the following which i typed out from the report:

"There is a marked marrow oedema in the hamate particularly distally and involving the hook of the hamate. There is a faint koy signal intensity line traversing the hamate compatible with a non displace fracture.

There is no prominent oedema in the surrounding soft tissues compatible with oedema and synovitas. The bone marrow of the remainder of the visualised carpal bones are nomrmal. The triangular fibro, the ulnar neurovascular bundle is intact in guyans canal and although there is a mild oedema adjacent un it related to thehamate abnormality"

I really hope someone can explain this better to me, my doctor told me that there was nothing to worry about but he clearly didn't want to help because there was about 300 people in the clinic and he told me to come back in 3 weeks, i dont feel like im being treated, there is extreme pain every morning and night for over an hour each time. I have this injury for nearly 2 years now time is not healing it.

here is a link to a picture of my hand, there is a bump where the base of the back of my hand meets my ulnar side of my wrist.  Its a large enough bump.  and then adjacent to that is a very small bump.

Right now i was to screen out a few things because im scared.

Did i tear an extensor muscle for my pinky finger?  Because any time i use my pinky finger for load, it shakes my entire hand like i have parkonsons or something.

Do i have tensosynovitus desease?  will it progress and deystroy other joints in my body?  Like my elbow for starters?

Do i have RA?

Whats wrong with my hand!? Why are there two bumps there?

I went to see an acupuncturist and it didnt help, i only went once, she wants me to go 10 times and pay 450 euros, which i dont have because im a student.  So i feel like im in trouble with my hand and theres no one to help.

My doctor just keeps telling me to come back next week, hes convinced that its only a fresh injury, i can't get it through to them about the pain and it not healing.  Its very frustrating.  The extensor muscles for my pinky finger on this injured hand have atrophied.

And i am starting to feel a burining sensation in my upper back, where the nerve travels from my ulnar canal, along my elbow and into my neck.   My elbow is also hurting a little.

Any injury to bone does increase the risk of eventually developing osteoarthrits arthritis at the site of the injury.
If you didn't allow enough time for it to heal, there is a slight chance the damage may be permanent. Have you consulted a physical or occupational therapist?
They should be able to help you regain what you have lost while allowing the site to heal properly.

the injur happened 1.5 years ago.  it hurts alot now and im just wondering why it hasnt healed up yet. i have been lifting weights with it though and im sure that didnt help.

theres a large bump on my hand, so theres definatly some inflamation.i feel like the inflamation happened and it could turn into arthritus or at least thats what an acupuncurist told me.

How long ago did this happen? The injury will cause pressure on the nerves, which will cause the "burning" sensations., Short term pressure like that rarely causes nerve damage. As for arthritis, MAYBE, when you're older, 40's - 50's, you may notice that that area gets inflammed and sore, but I doubt your injury is caused by an arthritic process. Also, kep in mind that an injury to the bone takes time to heal, a lot longer than a simple pulled muscle or cut.
You can try anti-inflammatories, such as advil/motrin as well as cold compresses for the swelling. Also, try to keep the injured area up, near your heart, as if in a sling. This will help avoid fluid buildup of the area, a natural occurance with an injury...

Hope this helps!

Hi dnmh, thanks alot for the reply.  They wrapped it in a bandage alright, but im just curious why i have synovitus and inflamtion that isn't going away?  Im worried about arthritus and nerve damage now.

what do you think? because i feel a burning sensation in my ulnar joint, my wrist, and upper back occasionally.

marrow oedema - is seen in what is considered an "insufficient" fracture which ties in with "compatible with a non displace fracture". Non displace just means the bone didn't have any break. Sounds like you may just have a mild stress fracture. Since the bone isn't technically broken, they didn't cast it. Did they at least wrap it with an ace bandage or anything?
