back pain at night need help!!back pain

I just read this entire page & empathize with all of you b/c I suffer from the same pain (fine all day, sleep 6-7 hours, awoke to pain that subsides about an hour after waking).  I have been experiencing this pain for 6 months now and it is so frustrating. I have tried muslce relaxers and the chiropractor, as well as a new bed. All provide a few hours of temporary relief, but nothing has helped to fix it.  This past week I began physical therapy, but no result yet, just soreness. I am a 28 year old female - 5'8 and 165. I could lose a few lbs, but do not think this si weight related.

I wanted to check in to see if anyone has any new thoughts on this? or any new remedies/ answers?  I am desperately seeking some pain relief (and a good nights sleep).  I'm exhausted!

im an old welder for 46 yrs.  I can tell you no one has hurt along their  thorasic sp. more than me .  please use heat, no doctor has ever helped me. except with drugs . don't use em. I have a theory that an adjustable bed raised at the head will take the crunch from sleeping on your side away. I bought one from walmart for 325.00. cant tell yet as it just arrived. I know on my side I hurt, on my back its relieved. I plan to lay on my side slightly elevated. I think this may relieve some of the side crunching pressure. hope this helps, I have suffered for many years. good luck friends

try using a bod pillow.  when sleeping, drop your one leg over the pillow and your arm.  this helps to keep your body in proper alignment as you sleep.  if i don't have this i wake up miserable.  i found out i am not as young as i used to be!

I have been reading these posts about morning mid-back pain for about a year and a half.  I also suffer mid back pain that wakes me up around 4:30-5am daily.  This has been going on since for at least 16 months.  I am a 6'5" 30-year-old male.  After a half dozen doctors office visits, 2 complete courses of physical therapy for my thoracic spine, thoracic and cervical spine x-rays, MRI of the cervical spine, and many many tears, I think I am starting to beat this nasty condition.  Mine started out like the rest where I had no pain during the day; however recently I have developed a lot of neck pain during the day.  The MRI ended up showing a mild bulge at C5/6.  My doctors have said that this is not the source of my pain.  I beg to differ.  I have found that there is a direct corelation between the pain in the neck and the mid back.  I can make all of the pain go away by addressing the bulge (chin tuck and shoulder squeeze stretches).  Please consider that perhaps the cause of your mid back pain is from the neck.  My theory is that my sleep posture is the source of, or at least aggrevates, the mild bulge I have in my neck.  The good news is there is a lot that can be done to treat the bulge.  My prayers are with all who suffer with this.

Did you recently purchase a new mattress, or are you sleeping on one that might be worn out? I've noticed I have back pain in the mornings, but when I sleep on a different mattress, I have barely any. Hmm. My mattress is fairly new so I'm stuck with it for a while, though. :/

Try sleeping with a pillow between your knees in order to keep your spine better aligned, particularly if you're a side sleeper like me.
