Food coating throat and not being able to breath

I’m hoping someone has an answer for me.  About 3 years ago I was eating a jelly bean and all of a sudden it coated my air way and I couldn’t breathBreath alcohol test
Breath holding spell
Breath odor. I felt like I got the wind knocked out of me so after 30 seconds or so it cleared and I could breathBreath alcohol test
Breath holding spell
Breath odor again but oh boy it scare me.  Since then I have had it happen a few more times with chocolate and wine even. I just was eating a freeze and the same thing happend I couldn't get a breath for like 10 sec and then i start to panic. Has anyone ever heard of this/? My doctor doesn’t have an answer for me.

Last year I developed a chronic cough and greenGreen tea mucus I also suffer from anxiety.  I don’t believe they have anything to do with the food coating my throatCancer - throat or larynx
Throat swab culture though.  As for the cough I just went to a respiratory specialist and he has ordered a CT scan of my sinuses.

I have had allergy testing and asthma testing and all are negative.

This happens to me with sugar and alcohol (primarily). It turns out that I have allergies to both. Some people get hives or itching, others swell up. The first sign I get is my throat swelling (and I guess the epiglottis). For a quick fix, first drink ice water. Then sip liquid Benadryl, which is usually used for children. This clears the swelling rather quickly. Then I take a normal dose of Benadryl.

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

I think I actually know the feeling that you are describing- it actually happens to me when I eat something sugary.  I get the same sensation that you described and it also can bring tears to my eyes.  I have always felt that it was an irritation in my throat from swallowing the sugar.  It lasts for about 15-20 seconds and then goes away.  I don't really have any other explanation for it, except the irritation from the sugar, but I also don't think that it has any major or lasting effect.  If you feel that this is happening too frequently or if your symptoms are worsening, you could be suffering from reflux or GERD.  This is characterized by a burning in your throat and or chest area.  There are over the counter antacids that can give immediate relief as well as daily medications that are preventative.  Hope this helps.
