Its it okay to take diflucan

Im 17wks5days and im experiencing itching in my vaginal area. this is my first pregnancy, and I dont want to take anything to harm the baby. I have had a yeast infection before and my body feel the same way, only this time I dont have the discharge. I also have been told that they are very common in pregnancies. Will you please tell me if I can take a diflucan 150mg?

Just one additional thing...In higher doses there is a link between diflucan and birth defects. There are other treatments for yeast infections, and your doctor can help to direct you to one that would be safe for you and the baby.

Thanks for using the forum.

It is recommend that you check with your practitioner before starting any medication during your pregnancy. Additionally, the majority of women who self diagnose yeast infections either misdiagnose, or mistreat. For the health of both you and your baby, I recommend that you speak with your doctor before you take any medication.
