Have you tried coconut water? It is very hydrating, natural, full of potassium. Try it, drink it often. Your body is doing what it needs to by having diarrhea= getting rid of all the crap from chemo. Tried any natural remedies? Like acupuncture?

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

I am sorry about your symptoms, I know that it can be very troubling, especially when you are already not feeling well because of the chemo.

First, let your doctor know about the diarrhea.  It is important that he or she know what side affects you are experiencing.

Drinking plenty of fluids is important- they will not stop your diarrhea, but they will help replace the fluids that you are losing.  Sometimes gatorade can be a little sugary and may make the diarrhea worse, so you could try 1/2 gatorade and 1/2 water.  YOu could also try pedialyte.  Water is always good as well.

As for foods, things such as bananas, applesauce, crackers, white toast, oatmeal, peanut butter and plain or even vanilla yogurt can help.  Try eating several (5-6) small meals each day instead of 3 regular meals, this can also help.

If the diarrhea persists, discuss it with your doctor.  He or she may be able to prescribe medication to help ease this.  Good luck and I wish you all the best.
