Skin

hi a couple of weeks ago i got a cut just above my eye brow. its about 3mm and felt quite deep. The scab feel off a little over a week ago and left a red indent where it was. Now the indent seems to have filled in perfect but it is still quite red. it seems to disappear if i put pressure on it. so my question is how long will the red skin last and will it scar and does removing the scar prematurely effect the recovery time?

thanks bridget. i recieved another cut on my nose where the bone stops and the cartillage starts whilst playing rugby. it was very small and bled a little bit. it felt deep but the skin wasnt very thick. anywho its been a few hours now and there is like a light brown light red circle around it, it fades if i put pressure on it. it stopped bleeding but didnt scab. is this normal? i started thinking my cut was turning into a mole or something.

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

It can take some time for the scar to fade.  IF the wound was deep, you may always have a scar there.  There are over the counter medications (such as Mederma) that can help fade the scar.  Also, be sure to wear sunscreen to protect the new skin- sun exposure can change the color of the new skin.  If you are concerned, you could see a dermatologist.  Good luck.
