22 weeks pregnant: Something's wrong!! ER visit or no?

On June 8th of this month I was in a car accident. I was 21weeks pregnant. The other vehicle hit my side of the car. The airbag deployed in my face and the force of the accident caused my stomach to slam into my 1yr old sons car seat. I went to the hospital and based on the tests they believe everything should be OK. Well yesterday I went for a long walk with my fiance and had severe abdominal pains. After a good 20 mins they subsided. I thought nothing else of it. I came home and had a leisurely swim. Nothing strenuous. Still I felt fine. Later last night at about 11:15pm I was having stomach cramps. Similar to period cramps. I thought it was just bowels(poop) and went to the bathroom. Nothing. I just urinated. I wiped and when I flushed I noticed the toilet had blood in it and so did the toilet paper. I couldn't get a long look at it because I flushed before I noticed it. But it was definitely a vibrant red. I checked to make sure it wasnt my hemmoroids or a cut in/on my vagina. Nothing. I checked inside and when I pulled my finger out it had a watery but sticky mucous with a small pea sized I want to say clot? It was purish red in color.I panicked. Called my mom. She told me to elevate my feet and rest to try to get the bleeding to stop. I did. I went and checked again. It was lighter and wasn't red anymore instead it was almost like a bright orange. Rested for awhile lo get used the bathroom again. and it was a light tan color. After that the bleeding stopped. Today all day I had dull ache in my lower abdomen  with the occasional minor cramp. My abdomen is still achey but no more bleeding. Is this normal at 22 weeks pregnant? All I can find is it being normal in early pregnancy(1st trimester) I'm in my 2nd going on my third in a few weeks. Please someone I need peace of mind or to know if I should be going to the hospital.

Thanks for using the forum.

I recommend that you call your OB. This should be done for any bleeding that you notice during pregnancy. They may want to do an ultrasound or check you out to make sure that everything is still OK. I would call to see if they can see you today. If nothing is wrong, at least you will  have peace of mind. If there is a problem, early intervention is best for the heath of  both you and your baby.
