Which medicine is better for my situation? Plz Help.

Ok, so I've been thinking I need to be on a daily something to control my anxiety and panic disorder....Just talk thearpy alone isn't working. I am super freaked out about having to take any kind of medicine....the side effects worry me to death. I would like to know which one would be a better choice for me. Zoloft or Celexa? I do currently take Alprazolam at a small and low dosage, and I also will take Tylonol on occasion for headaches. I am looking for the safest way to go about having to take any kind of medication and would like any suggestions on one that may be know to have the least side effects. Thanks.

Have you discussed medication alternatives with your therapist? My suggestion would be speak to your therapist about what may work for you. You have to think of depression as a disease state, because in fact that is exactly what it is. Would you withhold medication to yourself if you were diagnosed with high blood pressure? Of course not I( well I would hope not). Keep in mind the following statistic. Patients with generalized anxiety disorder experience worry or anxiety and a number of physical and psychologic symptoms. The disorder is frequently difficult to diagnose because of the variety of presentations and the common occurrence of comorbid medical or psychiatric conditions. The lifetime prevalence is approximately 4 to 6 percent in the general population and is more common in women than in men. So my point is you are not alone.
I would probably suggest discussing with the primary care provider and your therapist starting with a SSRI. Out of Zoloft, Celexa or Lexapro I have seen lower side effects from Lexapro, but everyone reacts differently to medications. I wish you the best.
