Antihistamines

Can taking too much antihistamine dry out your skin and make it tight and dry?

Thank you for your message.  Due to allergies I take zyrtec everyday.  Everyday use can cause drying of skin?  Yes, my nose is very dry as well.

Yes, antihistamines have been associated with dry skin and, even more often, with dryness of the mouth, throat and nose.  The first step is to determine if you really need as much antihistamine as you are currently taking and, if feasible, reduce the dose.  At that point, you may have to use topical moisturizing lotions.
