Chronic cough

It's been a month and I'm experiencing a dry cough feeling as though I want to bring up something - I notice after my walk 20mins. in the morning I cough, or if I get excited when speaking I choke up and cough, lying down and then sit up I cough.  I am taking and have been for awhile Protonix (acid reflux) and Metformin 500mg (twice a day) but just started the Met. 9/10

I have also been suffering chronic coughing.  This has been going on now for a month and I'm exhausted from it.  I can't seem to do anything, including sleep, without coughing.  Most times from post nasal drip.  I live on nasonex, 2 times daily and have used other prescribed meds for allergies.
This happens about 3 times a year and goes on for over a month.  It has gotten worse since moving to famous for allergies Florida panhandle.  What can I do?  My chest aches as well as the rest of my body and I feel like a prisoner in my home..

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
This cough can be due to many things, including problems with drainage, acid reflux, lower airway problems etc.  If this is persisting for a month, it should be addressed by your physician.  Sometimes, a physical examination alone can lead to the diagnosis and prompt therapy.  Other times, more evaluation, such as a lung function test and x-rays, may be needed.  A good physical examination is critical to this process.  I suggest speaking to your physician as the next step.
