Asthma? Allergies? Or...

To keep it short, I've been having breathing difficulties.

About a month or two ago I was sick, I had a fever and was coughing up very yellow mucus. Sometimes with much nastier substances captured inside. Now I just can't breath without coughing or wheezing and I can hear my lungs rattling when I do. No mucus at all.

I've had allergies my whole life. But it's only been affecting this past year or so. I've had very short episodes like this before, but this has lasted over a month. I'm 16 years old and I would think it would have shown up sooner if it were asthma.
It wakes me up at night, and worst of all it hurts.

Hi,

I agree with above poster fully.  Two of my children grew into their asthma at age 10-11, while my now 18yr old was diagnosed as a baby.

Hi and welcome to the community.

It is not at all uncommon for teenagers to develop asthma.  Many people do because of hormonal changes during those years.  Also, viruses can trigger the onset of asthma.

You need to see your doctor for a propper diagnosis and treatment.  It could just be a secondary infection from when you were sick.

Feel better and God bless.
