Asthma not well controlled

I suffer from asthma since spring of 2007. I never had it in my life before that (37 years old); however, I had tonsilities (now tonsiles are taken out), GERD, depression, panic attacks, thyroid problems, adrenal gland show dysfunction in cortisol level (do not match what should be cortisol level during the specific periods of a day), bronchitis - infections prior asthma for 2-3 years - 2 times a year. Also, I suffered from ear infections 1 year prior asthma. Allergy testing showing only weak reactions to Maple, Cedar, and Candida and Cyprus. However, I cannot stand any chemicals in my home (paints, cleaning solutions, perfumes, some cosmetics, cooking, smell of cut grass, newspapers to name a few, smoking will kill me - anything that has strong odor is causing me asthma attacks). I am taking Symbicort inhaler (2 puffs 2 times a day), Atrovent inhaler (2 times 2 puffs), Singulair, Palgic, Xopenex as a rescue inhaler which sometimes does not help at all and I have to go to an emergency room. Before, I was taking maximum doze of ADVAIR but it stop working. My flow peek meter show often that I am in red zone - it happens 2-3 days a week, and rest of the days I am in lower yellow zone and I am rearly in green zone. Spirometry showed asthma as well. I do not have wheezing when doctors check my lungs, but I have it when I cough. After attack I got an enroumous amount of mucs (half of trash bas of napkins and more) especially after attack. I cannot function normally - because these attack happen 2 times a week and sometimes less or more. When I was put on prednisone and then everthying is ok for a few days I am on it. However, when I stop taking (because I am prescribed prednisone only for 5 days at a time). I am taking OTC mucinex 2 times a day to stop mucus production and thickening.  I wonder what is causing my asthma I did not suffer from allergies before asthma but it seems that my asthma is very unpredicatable despite the fact that I am taking best medicines available on the market. Also, Is my asthma an autoimmune disease? What else I should try to do. What to ask a new pulmonology specialist which I am supposed to see at the beginning of April? Thank you in advance.

This will help you get back to normal and do it with concentration.Do not give up before 4 weeks and come back to report your progress.
The Yoga Pranayam (breathing exercises) will  help with asthma  problems.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after 1 minute.

Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose. Duration upto 5 minutes.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 10 to 30 minutes twice a day. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 12  times

Once you are better, continue the pranayam once a day.
Be patient, as the benefits will show over a period of weeks.Only by doing you will benefit
and feel good because you are helping your body. Those who say I have tried everything....
will be amazed at the result of doing pranayam.
