Asthma

I always had asthma as kid, but it restricts me from doing so many things I like to do today. I can't run around without having to stop for air immediately, I can't laugh very hard/sneeze or I start wheezing and I can't even enjoy my favorite summer ice cold snacks. I know there is no cure besides the puffer and too much of that isn't good either. Is there a was can reduce the effects of asthma?

Also start a swimming routine it will strengthen your lungs.

Magnesium oil is the best, or anything except magnesium oxide (mag citrate. Glucinate, maleate etc) ..... Epsom salts will help a bit as well.

Try a natural health food store and ask if you can't find it.  I use magnesium citrate powder, Epsom salts and waiting on the oil to come in (been back ordered for weeks).

I havent found the magnisium supp, is there any in particular?

Thank you, leaving the ice cream alone has help and did buy the vitamins.

Magnesium supplements in particular will help. Use magnesium gluconate, which a very effective form, though a bit more expensive. Talk with your doctor about the short term use of prednisone. I am very against excessive use of prednisone, which has very serious side effects, however when the lungs get "twitchy" oral prednisone for several days, with a taper may the only thing to "settle them down". Ask your doctor about a few tablets for use in an emergency.

I would say your asthma is not under control - you should not have problems exercising or constant wheezing like that.  There is ventolin to use when you have symptoms and preventative inhalers that you take EVERY day to lower inflammation and prevent symptoms.  

You need to talk to your doctor, get current pulmonary function tests and maybe change your medications - there is a lot of room for improvement in your case.  You should only have symptoms that needs your rescue inhaler 3 times a WEEK - otherwise its back to the doctor to discuss.

Anything that increases overall health will help asthma - exercise (once you get the exercise asthma under control - may involve taking a puff or two of ventolin before you start), eating healthy - limiting sugar, caffeine, alcohol, fatty foods and increasing vegetables, fruits, lean meat, healthy fats and whole grains.  Staying hydrated with water is also very important for asthmatics.

Identifying and eliminating your triggers are important - you said exercise or laughing/sneezing.  Exercise can be eliminated by taking your rescue inhaler before you start (not included in the 3 times max a week).  The sneezing could be due to your exposure to an allergen and taking allergy medications or staying away depending on what it is will help.  Your "favourite cold summer snack" - is it ice cream?  People who have an allergy (like me), or lactose intolerant may have a large response to the milk which causes large increase of mucus and inflammation and hence asthma symptoms.  I know it *****, but you will feel much better if you refrain or switch to non-dairy deserts.  Ice cream is the one thing I miss with my food allergies but it does make me really sick for a few days and not worth it in the long run.  

Certain vitamins can help - vitamin C and D, NAC - very helpful, breaks down the mucus in your lungs, magnesium and coQ10 may also be of benefit.
