Can someone get asthma at 39?

First off, I have been diagnosed with panic disorder with anxiety and depression. With that said, when I begin having an anxiety attack I get short of breath, feeling like I am having a heart attack, etc. However, lately I have been getting like I can't breathe without any other symptoms of a panic attack. Yesterday I went up some stairs and I got to breathing really heavy and it just felt like as hard as I was breathing I couldn't get any oxygen.

Well, I grew up with allergies. My mom smoked while she was pregnant with me (which at the time, it wasn't suggested not to). I never thought I would have asthma though. I will get checked with my doctor. Thanks.

Definitely!! I know several people who developed asthma in their 40's and 50's.  I was first diagnosed with asthma at 34, but it suddenly worsened severely at 42.  You can develop both asthma and allergies at any age.

You should definitely see a doctor and have this evaluated to make sure other things are not going on and start effective treatment.  Be patient though.  Come back if you have other questions.
