Constricted breathing.

I am 14 years old, and have been experiencing breathing difficulty for about a year now. My throat is constantly feeling constricted and it seems to be getting harder and harder to breath. I do have asthma although when exercising and when using my inhaler breathing is still difficult. I am quite healthy and I exercise regularly. Any ideas?

You say that you have been having breathing probems for a year now.  Has your throat also been like this for a year now as well or did the problems come at different times?

You need to talk to your asthma doctor about vocal cord dysfunction evaluation.  This is a relatively easy test.  The tight feeling in you throat and lack of response to rescue meds would indicate VCD vs asthma issues at these times.  Search the internet for vocal cord dysfunction.  There is at least one video out there that demonstrates a relaxation technique that may be helpful.  There are others, but you would have to see a speach therapist for them.  Speach therapy is the only treatment for VCD.

I hope that helps you some.
Take care and
God bless.

See your MD, tell them your still having problems.  They can put you on some maintenance medicine, like advair or singular.  This should help.
