Infection for 3 weeks??

I've had an infection for about 3 weeks now, fever for 2.  I'm worried since I already took zpack, amoxicilyn and now am on flagyl and prednisone and it's not clearing up.  maybe it could be viral or something else.  My nose is really sore and bleeding sometimes and I'm getting clear mucus.

I took 10mg prednisone and then I'm coming down now with fever- the flagyl maybe didn't work completely for this possible amoeba infection EH

I felt groin pain, like I might have had a blood clot or something

I on week 4 of the infection and I've never been this sick before- I am still wheezing when I exhale and have some bloody mucus out of my nose and ear problems and mental foginess.  I'm not sure if I had septic shock or a biofilm or what

the other problem with overuse of antibiotics is that you can develop septic shock

flagyl doesn't seem effective against amoebas

thanks very much!
there's another possibility, lung flukes from eating crab can become encysted in your lungs
don't ever eat crab at street food stands...
the symptoms are coughing up blood tinged mucus which I did once
I also felt movement in my sinuses, bloody sinus mucus and movement in my rectum.

I'm slowly recovering but still suffocating in my sleep
why don't they prescribe methyprinosolone instead of prednisone since it may bypass the liver?

there is a connection in studies between taking antibiotics and development of asthma early in life- it may affect the gut flora bacteria which may affect T cells
but antibiotics are necessary to lengthen lifespan and treat disease

I read a comment that prednisone protects your lungs from being scarred?
I should have refused the solumedrol injection in the ER and all of this may not have happened- I was already on 30mg prednisone and then my immune system probably crashed.

The use of prednisone while having a lung infection is controversial. When hospitalized I refused the steroid and it created a hub-bub. I would not take prednisone with a lung infection unless it was absolutely positively necessary. As to what constitues "absolutely positively necessary" that is the million dollar question. In it's place I would take a beta agonist such as Foradil.  My personal belief is that taking 20 mg a day of prednisone will shut down the immune system and help create an antibiotic resistant infection that will become encapsulated. Nevertheless, some physicians prescribe such doses in the face of a bacterial lung infection.

Lung infections may start out viral and then a bacterial infection piggybacks. You are probably in need of hospitalization and intravenous antibiotics at this state. I say "probably" because your infection seems to be out of control. I would head for an emergency room. Preferably in a teaching hospital.  People actually die from lung infections these days.

I'm on 20mg prednisone so maybe that's stopping my immune system?
