Slight Asthma?

Hello im 18 yr old male.

I have asthma however never needed an inhaler because of wheezing or coughing. I did although use a box-like machine until the age of 8. I believe it is the same as an inhaler. Never used it again and never needed/had an inhaler.

I did long distance running, wrestling, and football never felt the effects of my asthma. I was a good performing athlete if not the same maybe better than those who didn't have asthma.

A while ago I took a PFT test and found out I still had asthma. They gave me something to open my lungs exactly the same box-like machine did. After I took the test I felt lightheaded 30 mins after. I also went for a run the day after and for my first time in my life like someone was stepping on my chest.

My question is why did I feel restricted when running?

Any knowledge about this would help thanks.
