Both my sister and I have benefited greatly from chiropractor care in helping our asthma even our allergist/immunologist from a top teaching hospital was glad to know that were going to a chiropractor. (We still have meds like flovent and a rescue inhaler but the dosage of flovent was decreased and we do not need our rescue inhalers as much) Here is some info on why:
Asthma is a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Asthma causes recurring periods of wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath and coughing. Chiropractic is not a treatment for asthma. However, many people with asthma report improvement after receiving chiropractic care. Why? The lungs and diaphragm (the muscle used for breathing) are controlled by your nervous system. Nerves that control these areas leave the brain, travel down the spinal cord and exit the mid-cervical (neck) and thoracic regions of the spine. Subluxations (misalignments of spinal bones that irritate nerves) in these areas of the spine can interfere with nerve supply to the lungs causing the lungs to function abnormally. A chiropractor would correct the subluxations, restoring proper nerve supply to the lungs, allowing the lungs to function optimally. A study published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research documented the results of 81 children with asthma who received chiropractic care. The two month study revealed that those under chiropractic care who reported asthma attacks before the study, saw a 45% decrease in the number of attacks, and that 31% of the subjects voluntarily chose to decrease their medication. All this occurred because of improved nervous system control of the lungs.

i feel that regular cardio actually helps my asthma, too.
Welcome to the community. It is nice to meet you as well.
I also look forward to an exchange of ideas and aproaches. However, as you have already learned, we don't always agree with each other, and we aren't shy about sharing our differing thoughts and opinions. The truth is - what works for one person may not work for another. Having a board range of thoughts and aproaches will benefit all who read the boards.
You may want to add vitamin D and magnesium to your list of lung health supplements. It has been proven that vitamin D is more important to the immune system than vitamin C. Magnesium is a natural broncho-dilater, but does need to be used with care.
Thanks for sharing.
God bless.
hiya nice too meet you. as my dad has got asthma and COPD we have had to get rid of all the carpets around the house and put wood flooring everywhere as dust mites can live in there. plus dust mites love pets, fabric sofa's, no smoking or passive smoking. there is endless stuff you can do. hope this helps..
With due respects to those who practice chiropractic medicine, the relationship between chiropractic medicine and asthma eludes me.
